Brand Localisation

Bagelstein is not a French concept that happens to be available internationally. The concept was built around universal appeal – product quality and brand character that work across cultures, in different consumer markets, with different regulatory environments. Which is why it has expanded so successfully across four countries without losing what makes it so distinctive as a brand.

Product quality, brand character, and operational standards are non-negotiable and will remain consistent wherever we, and our partners, open. However, within those parameters, there is genuine flexibility built into our model and the UK will be treated with the same structured approach that has worked across Europe.

Our core products

Thanks to our already extensive experience expanding across borders, we are confident we will need to change very little about what we offer customers in the UK compared to what has already worked in our other destinations.

Our freshly baked bagels translate directly to the UK market, and are already sought after by British consumers. However, we will be working with our partners to carry out test tastes and controlled pilots to understand how local adjustments can be made to our bagel fillings, and we will be carefully considering seasonal additions and limited time offers, especially when exploring categories such as vegan and halal menu items which are often in higher demand in Britain than many of our other locations.

The beverage programme will be developed alongside the signature coffee offering to reflect British preferences across tea, soft drinks, and related categories.

Supply chain & product integrity

During the early phases of UK operation, Bagelstein’s central bakery in Paris will supply fresh or par-baked products to ensure product consistency from day one.

Within 12–18 months, the operation will transition to a UK bakery partner capable of reproducing Bagelstein’s full specifications at scale.

This transition will be well-structured and carefully considered, as product integrity is not something we compromise on for the sake of supply chain convenience.

Any UK bakery partner will be selected, tested, and fully validated before the transition takes place, and will operate to exactly the same standards as the Paris facility.

Market preparation

Our vision of entering UK is not just founded on ambition, but also on careful research and forethought.

We have conducted an exhaustive Market Entry Study examining both how the Bagelstein model can be adapted for UK consumers and how it can be structured to suit the specific business climate of the UK marketplace.

That study covers:

Site selection – population data, competitor mapping, and retail infrastructure analysis to support location decisions before any commitment is made.
City-level insight – individual assessment of target cities and towns to identify specific local opportunities and risks.
Financial modelling – detailed projections covering start-up costs, EBITDA, and ROI timelines.
Market demand analysis – comparable brand performance, consumer trends, and growth forecasts quantifying the size and longevity of the opportunity.
Localisation strategy – how product, tone, and customer experience can be adapted to UK consumer preferences.
Implementation planning – supplier selection, equipment costs, fit-out strategy, and areas for operational enhancement.

Key Strategic Partnerships

Alongside our own research, we have partnered with The Franchising Centre, one of the UK’s leading specialist consultancies in global investment partnerships of this kind.

Their involvement means that prospective UK partners benefit not only from Bagelstein’s fifteen years of international experience, but from specialist on-the-ground knowledge of how to build, structure, and scale a network specifically within the UK market.
